Guide To Terminate Labuan Work Permit
All Labuan companies can apply to Labuan FSA for a two(2) years renewable, multiple-entry, work permit. This permit is applicable to their Directors or expatriates of managerial positions to work under their Labuan company. Furthermore, their dependents can also be included in their work permit application with the Labuan Immigration Department.
With the work permit, business operators are not confined to staying in Labuan. They can stay elsewhere in west Malaysian cities like Kuala Lumpur, Penang and so on.
Termination of Work Permit – An Overview
There are three (3) categories of Labuan expatriates wanting to terminate their Labuan work permit as follows:
Documents to submit to Labuan Immigration Department for the processing are as follows:
- Original Passport
- Inland Revenue Board (IRB) personal tax clearance letter
- Copy of air ticket for Category 1 expatriates
- Copy of visa approval document for the Category B’s expatriates
It advisable to apply for IRB personal tax clearance letter earlier as the processing timeline may be longer than the time taken to terminate your work permit. Labuan immigration has stressed that they will only accept the processing of termination or data system clearance for the expatriates only after the submission of the personal tax clearance of the expatriates is received.
